I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Being in the mission is an experience very different, being away from home and all. I thought i was going to cry at first not being home for the holidays, even though it has been tough and all the lord has blessed me alot and i know that he lives and that this is his work. I thought that i for sure wouldnt do this if it werent true and all. I really miss you all and i hope that you all send me a picture of the apple cider midnight toast haha! I will keep sending pictures to you guys everyweek. For Christmas on the 24th we did the mission christmas party with president, then in the night we ate a ton in the bishops house and then afterwards on christmas day i skyped you all and on newyears we dont have permission to be out anylater than 8:30 so i think well just be in the house and order a pizza or something. The light of tons of Fireworks and it sounds like a war ahahahaha! Christmas 2015

We love talking to Brady on Christmas. We had a hard time connecting this year. We could not see him and he kept cutting out, but he could see and hear us. We finally had to go to Jeff's work to be able to have a good enough internet connection to talk to him. We are grateful the family that was hosting him for the call allowed him the time to connect with us.

This year for Christmas it feels weird to think that this is the last one in the mission. wow. I love this area and the mission and even though its a holiday and i miss the familiy i feel great here and know i am at right where i need to be at! The mission is the best experience ever haha its just like the movie the best two years hahaha. THanks for sending the friends a christmas card, matias and gaby got theirs. THe driveway to the house looks great. I really miss your home made cooking, stuffed peppers and enchiladas chicken rollups and cordonbleu and all the good things you cooked, no one cooks the same here, bread and pasta and more bread here hahaha. na there is a family that give us so much good food and always makes sure us 4 missionaries in the ward are all taken care of. the familia Galeano are the best! so awesome! theyre funny too, the lady was a hardcore evangelica at first and converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ and they are super awesome. tomrrow i get to go to belgrano (rich town) to get my nail taken out haha fun fun! awesome.
We are planning a baptism this weekend and 2 or 3 more on the 27th, we are hoping and waiting for maricles to be able to meet the goal of 2000 baptisms in the mission for the year 2014! I am so excited to be apart of it all! VAMOS BUENOS AIRES NORTE! anyways i hope you have a good week this week and enjoy work! thanks for the money and the prayers and all the unrcognized things you and dad and brothers and grandma and grandpa and the other people do for me! I sent this to matias for his wedding anniversary video hes going to do: "los matrimonios y familias que logran a tener éxito en el fin de todo son los matrimonios y familias selladas en el Santo Templo del Señor. "Marriages and friends are forever" "El que quiere lograr la vida eterna se casará; o mas bien el que se casa por la eternidad en el Santo templo del Señor tendrá la opurtunidad de tener la vida eterna." I thought about that for a minute but its totally made up as if i were writing scriptures haha in other words dont take it as doctorine.hahaha annnnnnnnyways i hope you have a superduper happy anniversary! Tell the fam i said HI!" He and his family are so awesome! anyways mom and dad look what i made for dinner, egg with cabbage and Aji pepper and salt with a dash of love haha

there isnt much time cause today in tina its a holiday and nothing is open so i just wanted to send this little message and hope it helps ya out=)
" You were in the war in heaven and one day when you are in the spirit world you will be enthralled with those who you are associated with. You will ask someone in which time period they lived and you might hear "I was with Moses when he parted the Red Sea" or "I helped build the Pyramids" or "I fought with capitain Moroni". and as you are standing there in amazment someone will turn to you and ask "Which of the prophets time period did you live in?" And when you say Gordon B Hinckley, a hush will fall over every hall and every corridor in heaven, and all in attendance will bow at your presence. you were held back 6000 years because you were the most talented, most obedient, most courageous and most righteous. Are you still? Remember who you are."

Jose C Paz

\

Monday, December 1, 2014

This weekend it rained like crazy, it was soo humid and hot and then it rained and the air cooled off enough that we have to wear a jacket now. We had stake conference here in Jose C Paz. saturday night and sunday morning during the storm, we were all worried that the investigadors wouldnt come because nobody wants to leave the house here when it rains and we have to do some walking to arrive and take 2 buses. Even with all the storm we brought a 15 year old kid we had been teaching because yesterday he was baptized! We are very happy that he took his disicion to be baptized. It was so awesome, the water was cold too! hahaha. there is a photo at the baptism service and then we took photos that night in the appartment that expresses how we felt hahaha But the important thing to recognize is that the lord did all the real work! in later weeks we are expecting alot more to come=)
This week we were waiting for a bus in the middle of nowhere. just a bumpy dirt road and fields of grass and trees and argentina as far as the eye could see, as we were waiting a car drove by really slowly just as the bus was arriving and a guy with his buddies rolled down the window and said "Hey beautiful ill take you up to the town for only one dollar." i thought we were all alone me and my companion and i said uuhhh nooo...but thanks laughing alittle. and he scould at me and said NOT YOU, the girl. and he drove away all embarrased and i looked behind and saw a lady there too and me and my companion and that lady were all laughing because i had answered the creepy dude and he got angry and drove away. it was so funny.

The experinces one has on a mission are the best the spiritual ones and the funny ones, there are plenty of the two. When we teach lessons the spirit is felt so strongly and i really enjoy helping others to feel of the love of god! WIth all that happens on the mission one cant possible doubt the truthfulness of the gospel. I know its true and that we have it to be able to live with god again in a state of endless happiness as a family=) i hope you all had a happythanksgiving! I bought a kilo of bread, put butter and sugar on it and slid that baby in the oven to heat it up and ate that with a liter of chocolate milk! uuuuhhhhhhmmmmmmm that hit the spot! have yourself a great week and ill talk to ya next week!

tons of people got baptized yesterday!
hopefully we make the Liahona

we had a baptism yesterday i baptized our investigador
Ezequiel and a 9 year old girl named Belen!

yes i bought that UFC hat here!

15 Months! Transfer Week

The mission did transfers but i am staying in my area with my companion again for 6 more weeks. it is starting to become really hot here, so hot that sleeping is starting to get uncomfortable. Everyone says that its going to be super hot this year here cause it was a warm winter. I am getting pretty tan but just from my elbow down to my hand, the rest is whiter than sour cream, its kinda funny on pday when i am in a normal shirt and you see the difference in it.
Elder Christofferson came to Argentina to talk to us. hes soo awesome! He spoke all about the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the spirit was pretty strong. I tryed to make it to the front row cause i wanted his spit to hit me when he talked but all the sister missionaries took the seats in front, sister missionaries always ruining everything haha jk. I like something he said that was that we speak so confidently to the people about the atoneing power of Christ but we disinclude ourselves from this same power we promise other people they can feel. I learned that the Atoneing power of Christ is for all living creatures ecspecailly us. He suffered for all. The only thing that holds alot of people back from recieveing this power most times is the lack of faith that the atonement can really heal ALL things, and give us peace and comfort.
I pulled out an ingrown toenail this week, it hurt sooo bad but now were back in business, i know it sounds funny haha but as i was screaming like alittle school girl my companion pointed out the Atonement and that Christ suffered all that and more, and in the moment while the pain was burning i felt a greater appreciation for the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Cool ways to build a testimony huh! while ripping a nail out!
This week we had like 25 lessons with member but our people that had baptism dates did make it to church, its been 6 weeks since i have been here that there is a family weve dropped that still wants to go to church, every single sunday morning something happens with the family, like this last sunday their aunt died, the one before the police was called becasue the cousin who lives there was making threats to the mom, and everyweek something happens but i know that the lord is preparing them to be great members of the church. We had to drop them cause the arent married yet. We tried to help them 2 times with the date for marraige but the guy hit his head leaving the house and couldnt make it to the civil registry in time so it fell through. many trials but many blessings too, this week will be finding new investigadores! Have a great week everyone!

Elder Wikstrom

Then he sent this quick goodbye

Well i am headed out to do other things now but i hope youall have a good week and dont forget that i love you all!
Something i like also that Elder Christofferson said was that even though we dont remember the premortal that if we saw the face of God then wed recognize him right off, cause we lived with him for who knows how much time! And that our father in heaven knows our face too, and the lord knows us also! and they both love us and care about us more than we can imagine! I just like to share that i and so you can all feel alittle more loved from the lord when things are tough!

Love you, have a good week!=D

adventourous

I lost my spelling abilities i know. the title is sounded out. This week we went to donate blood in the church for a guy who got baptized my first week here. there were more non memebers in the church than uncut toenails on my companions feet. and you think i am kidding. haha. i bet people were amazed on the outside as they saw alot of people go into the church not knowing that they were donating blood and seeing them all walk out whiter than the holy ghost. maybe well be having alot of baptisms now cause of that haha. I intended to donate but they wouldnt let me cause im imported, (nothing in argentina is imported) haha jk its cause i saw the needle and already felt sick, i just cant win that mind game of needles and blood together, i turned whiter than the holy ghost myself. transparent. have you ever wondered why blood is blue on the inside and red on the outside, maybe i will be a doctor to find out.
This week i have learned some guarani. Its a dialect only spoken in paraguay, we have found an investigator who only speaks guarani almost. i told him ya ja tu paiope, which is lets go to church, i will continue learning. never thought i would use a second language to learn a 3rd language haha.
This saturday we will be able to have a meeting with one of the 12 apostles and other general authorities. I bet itll be sweet! still dont know who will come down, ecspecially in this heat, jk fyi i bought more soap. a missionary must maintain himself cleaner than a whistle. if that even makes sense.
We have found alot of new investigaors and they are all awesome. They are all good people and following through with their commitments. we were going to baptize a famiy of 4 but the parents needed to get married, we had a date and everything for them but the guy hit his head on a piece of wood and couldnt make it. (face smack) nah the lord has another time prepared for them, atleast they are going to church and reading the book of mormon and praying, their testimonies shows that they have been recieving real conversion. I liked a scriptue that i read today in the morning that was in jacob 4 verse 11. i read it and the thought came to mind that the lord wants us to get to know him before he comes again. and then i said how can we get to know the lord, 3 very important ways are going to church and reading the scriptures and praying. Jacob 4 is an awesome chapter of the book of mormon.
weeeellll i think i am going to head out now so have a good week and save a DEW for me!

Monday, November 3, 2014

This week i felt pretty rich, so I bought soap, and it was a soap that smelled really good. I opened it. turned on the water to fill up the bucket to shower, just as i was about to use the soap i watched it do the slippery move and it jumped out of my hand and then did the indy 500 in the toilet and went away. This month i will keep on showering with shampoo for soap...It was pretty funny really.
It has been raining alot this week, it went from hot to cold this week fast. the rain here is crazy, one moment youll be dry and the next youll feel like someone is dumping a bucket of water on you, seriously! I put plastic sacks on my feet under my shoes to keep them babies dry so i dont get some wierd foot problem from argentina. i dont think it´d be very pretty to have an argentine foot fungus, but if i did, i wouldnt have to buy cheese for my pasta anymore haha jk.
The other day we walked into the door of where we live and i always tell my companion to watch out cause something is in the pension (jokingly) and so i walked in first and saw the neighboors dog walking around in the back room. so i handeled the situation like a man and screamed like a little girl and the dog ran away, well see if that dog comes back eh. it was pretty funny. Were a funny compaionship, i screamed when i saw a dog and my companion is afraid of cats, if you dont believe me just get a cat close to him hahaha.
A cool thing i learned this week. I learned my best attribute is humility if you dont believe me just ask me. haha jk
We found a new part of the area to work in and its awesome, its alittle poorer where were at now but the poor in material are usually rich in faith and heart. We teach alot of people, everyday getting to know many knew people, everyone we find though is hard for us to help them progress to baptism because nobody in argentina is married and if they are teenagers their parents wont give them permission, and dogs only count for half haha jk about the dogs they count for whole. hahaha (Its just a joke were not baptizing dogs haha just trying to be funny nothing else) no but seriously now we were teaching a family of 5. 4 of them were of baptism age, we have already taught them all the lessons, they had taken out a date to get married and so they could get baptized. the only thing is that the last 4 weeks they havent been to church cause something suddenly comes up on every sunday so were going to have to drop them for now and leave them for other elders i think. If we drop them then well be able to find more people for sure. the other people we are teaching are accepting the lessons but not following through with thier commitments like read pray and Go To Church! haha its a challenge here, they always use the wheather as an excuse, but we are learning alot better how to help them do these things. Its different with everyone but as we focus on the Book of Mormon and if they can get a testimony of the Book of Mormon then their set in stone converts!
The food that we eat here is pretty good. Here they eat alot of pasta with chicken. Chicken is common here in all food almost. Some of my favorite things to eat are milanesa napolitana, arroz chaufa, papa y asado. pastel de papas, its all good when the members cook, the bad things to eat for me are the things that you can by in the street, like huge hot dogs and tortas fritas or pan casero or tortillas, they put me on the floor and make me call for mommy because the enviorment they are cooked in isnt good at all. anyways this week we did a family home evening too. Familily home evenings are the best, everyone gets involved and laughs, even those who dont want anything from us. I will send some pictures, I will go now to face my next challenge disobey the handbook and go swimming, the streets are flooded here so well be practically swimming. haha. have a great week and be thankful for what you have and that your month supply of soap didnt do the indy 500 down the john. =D
Love ya all

thanks for this email mom i like to read whats up in tremonton and with you guys! grandpa is a funny guy! haha. Dad reminds me of a laminite or nephite haha. The costumes look awesome, what a fun party. Do they ever do things with calebs masks in dws like walk behind the people or anything? things are going good here. Its super hot and unbearable here with the heat and the humidity. You know how we always have cold water that runs out of the sink fossit. here the cold water comes out warm because of how hot it is and i think the lines are like right under the cement here too. Sorry for taking out soo much money, i need to manage better my money and learn how to use it with wisdom.
Griffen is so funny, i would have busted up laughing in church hahaha this kid. well i will tell more in my group mail but thanks for you email mom i am doing good and all is well! Are there any changes in the style of music up there? Styles? Are the stores or prices changing? I feel sooo out of it, like i am in 2013 still haha.
Love you

Week 3 of being in my new area. Its pretty big and spacious. today i saw the priesthood session of General Conference with the zone here. It was really good. I love one of the messages shared about how its not too late to obtain your own testimony of Jesus Christ, the testimonies of others will only take you soo far until you end up in a place where you have to make your own desecions and stand up for yourself. Of course we know that were never alone, that the lord and his angles watch over us and love us and carrys us through alot of our toughest moments but there are moments too when the lord leaves the desicion making up to us and that is why we came here no, to learn to choose and choose good for ourselves. The lord has a way that is prepared for Every Individual, we can follow it or we can choose not to, but the important is that we learn through our choices. We dont have to make the wrong choice to know that its better to choose the right choice but some people learn like that( even though they dont need to), others learn as they choose good and see the blessings of the lord in their live by choosing the right, everyone learns in their own way because everyone has their own agency, a gift given to us from God. We all have the light of Christ also that helps us to choose between good and bad. Being on the mission and seeing many peoples lives in a gospel point of view i have recognized that those you have obeyed the lord and choosen the right have always been happy and even though they have difficulties and trials in thier lives they have a firm testimony of their savior. Those who havent always choosen the right alot of times deny themselves of blessings from the the lord and those who are actively living the gospel now that werent before are happy but alot of times regret the past. Nobody is perfect. I have learned that the atonement can be applied to all lives and wipe away bad past memories and help us be better everyday. Just like practicing a sport everyday makes one better at that sport, repenting everyday and choosing the right helps us to be better everyday and grow to be something even greater and more like the savior. we all will start as seeds but we can all grow like the redwoods that once started as a seed also. Its not too late to choose the right and gain a testimony of the savior, He can heal you but only if you let him, he will not force himself in your life, you have to let him in. As we live his teachings and follow his example we invite him in and we will grow to become more like him and enjoy the blessings that comes therefrom. I Really like the saying: you reap what you sow. we all need to be like a semi driver and look way ahead down the road when we drive, (into our future) and ask ourselves, is what im doing now going to be a blessing or a burden in my future, and always remember that your decisions determine your destiny and that your desicions affect the lives of others(your kids) maybe even more than it effects your life. I know the savior lives and loves me too. he wants us to have success more than we want ourselves to have success! for that very reason we must follow his teachings and apply them in our lives, the scriptures, the teachings of the modern day prophets, and everything else =).

14 Months!

hi mom thanks so much for the mail i received from you. i liiiiikked it a lot.
That is true what Dieter F Uchtdorf says no? He's awesome. Today we are here in Jose C Paz. This computer is a piece a junk and i still haven't figured out how i can send pictures with it. There are only elders in this zone so supposedly we do an activity together every Monday. Today at 11:30 our time we are headed over to meet the other elders and then all of us are going to eat at a place called pizza libre. its like a buffet of pizza. after at 2 we are going to the church to play soccer with everyone. It's awesome how were all united here. in other zones its not always the same.
When i got here i could never take money out cause alllll the banks here were fuuuuuull of people. like every day. I finally found a time when i could go and a lot of banks don't have money, lots wouldn't let me see how much money i had,it just said i had zero or that i couldn't use this card. I finally found a bank that told me i had lots in my checking but i couldnt take money cause it was all out of money. So i went to one of the banks that says i have nothing and i took out 1000 pesos today. It says i have nothing so i went back to the other bank to see my inquiry again and it recognized the 1000 i took out. it was so crazy and i have been so stressed about it but finally havethe money. I thank you and grandma and grandpa soo much for the Birthday money and i hope i didnt take out too much. Thanks mom.
On Wednesday and Thursday and Friday i got up at 6:30. Saturday and Sunday and today i woke up at like 7:30 or 7:45. I am getting better but i have realized that the days i have been obedient i had a good day and we did lots of lessons with members present. The other days we had bad numbers and i didnt have such a great day. I realize that being a senior companion that my area depends on me. lots of people say that they enter into a bad area, when really the bad areas don't exist, its the problem of the missionary. I even have more desire to be obedient now! The bishop called us this week and said Hey elders i have a baptism for you guys. On saturday we baptized a guys that lives in my area. sunday he was confirmed. We didn't teach him anything. he is married to an active member. he has leukemia ( the blood cancer) He might die, he repented and decided he wanted to get baptized, he just did the interview and got baptized, even though we did absolutely nothing the baptism counts for us. so technically i had a baptism this weekend. its a sad situation, the whole family was crying in his baptism and it was spiritual, but i was just a witness on the font side. Happy the man got baptized though because now hes just one step closer to be able to be sealed with his family and live as an eternal family.
The house i am in is actually kinda sucky. We don't have drawers or dressers, or a shower or nothing. i shower in the bathroom by filling up a bucket and getting wet, like a poor man. haha. its kinda funny. My area is big, the bus routes here are soo crazy and i feel really lost. There are sooooo many people here and sooo many stores that i am suprised. I feel like i am in the capital but its in the desert. Its like san pedro and the capital mixed together. I hope i can learn the bus routes better. But there are parts of the area where i fill like i'm in the Joseph Smith times. haha. Entering in this new area i started to feel like homesick you could say. Noone knows me and i feel sooo lost, I dont understand how things work here in the area but i am learning. haha. We are already in the second of six weeks so i'm doing alright. People now start to tell me that i have not that much time on my mission left. but i dont know how to feel. its all crazy. going really fast. i love the mission and know that i will miss it alot when its over with. I am glad i choose to come on the mission and I really enjoy being a senior companion. There is a lot more responsibility on my shoulders now i feel like. But i remember that the only thing that matters is the plack that says Elder. The other things are just assignments from the mission.=D. I love you lots mom, this computer wont let me send pictures but i will have to find one that can send cause i have to send a baptism paper to the offices by picture through email. love you guys lots!
Have a great week.=D

Transfer Day

Ok I am in a new area with a new companion. I am in Jose C. Paz with Elder Risco from Peru. He's a good missionary. I am the senior companion and hes junior but he has a year in the mission. Elder Schwendiman and Hansen are going to train new missionaries. I miss my old area but I am happy to have a change. I am in another area in the provincia not in the capital so I have lots of muddy streets again. haha I love it. The house here is a lot better too! It does need cleaning but has alot more potential. I am nervous and excited. The first thing we did here after drop of my bags was went to the place to help some investigators to be able to get married. i might be walking right into baptisms with a marriage and stuff! exciting! I thank you mom for your sacrifices and your charity for me! I love you!

The Great Mission Experiences

"i about passed out on the couch. I went to donate blood and they pricked my finger and i felt dizzy, they talked to me like a little kid and told me i was ok. I was like CALLATE haha no i wasnt like that but its funny, the elders make fun of me if i see blood i pass out. they always say ooo watch out a drop of blood and they hold me up haha"

"a service project of painting a hospital we did i sanded walls with my hand and a sand paper and then painted it. it was fun, we ate lunch after."

"hey mom did you know that my shoes are getting destroyed but i found like a brand new pair here in the pension! Blessiiiiinnggggg. Igual everything is ok i am just really hard on my shoes ya know. i still use them all!"
